You let her go
But you know deep down
That you denied her
Of your feelings and all your
Thoughts that went beyond her
Dare they trouble or scare
Or weigh down upon her
But you know deep down
That you denied her
Of your inner thoughts that
Might have bonded you together
Second thoughts
About the distance
You placed between her
Perhaps she might have sewn
It back together with a needle
Sharp, with a sting, but still forgiving
It could have mended and brought
Together all the distance that you
Tried so hard to drive between you
Reminisce now
About the good and bad of your darling
How she stood by your side up to the end
And she cared for you with such passion
That no other had ever given you
How it softened your heart
And loosened your soul
As she fluttered around
How you wanted to catch her
But still, how she reached for the pills
When the pain came and brought chills
You couldn’t return such loving admiration
It was too much to take
Your humming bird was hurting
Feel the guilt
As she packed her bags that night
You watched as she turned out her room light
And she rolled out one light suit case
For she had very few things
She gathered her pain relievers
And with sad eyes- she didn’t say goodbye
A week later in the mail
Came a letter from her sister
The girl was now in the hospital
Medications, therapy, psychology
Without her greatest reliever
She was crumbling away
And in the letter, it begged you so-
Dear brother, friend, and runner
Please she will die, she needs her antidote
Resolution
You thought you’d ended it all
But as fate would have it so
You returned to her bedside and she smiled wide
And the tears, hers did flow
And she said, my love, I’m dying
But please bear with it, I need you so
And you thought hard
On the pain that it would cause you
And you thought hard
On the life you’d have to leave
You’d lost her once already
Could you bear it once again?
But the answer was clear enough
Fate was unforgiving and rough and
Love was stronger than iron chains as he slept there everyday
God’s grace
A miracle happened
One morning when you awoke
Her eyes were shining
And she explained:
“An angel came to me
And said that for your safety
I must carry on, and learn to be strong
And stay with you, for you need me to
And I must show my thanks
And be sure to pray
For since you have given up so much
And held your fortress and weathered my storm
God has given me a life to help protect yours”
You cried heavy tears
And you fell down in her sheets
You buried your face in the fine linen folds
Your hands they clenched into fists
And you found you were falling into hysterics
For your girl was alive again
And suffering no more
And holding you so firm that it made you weak
And you sunk further to your knees
And she stepped off the bed
And surrounded you like you once had
Enveloped her
