i like the drawing style, , i find the inking quite good and the backgrounds are very well done, though, i'd like to see the characters drawn in more angles. About the story, it's not very original in my opinion, and looks just like a mixture of shonen manga hits, the revenge plot, the demon inside the boy that gives him powers (or that's what it seemed to me), the loud girl, and so. Though i really like the female character.

look, about the art style, its unique but not visually appealing the story isnt too hot and i dont like your character designs. there is nothing appealing about this comic to make it a hit.

I honestly enjoyed it.I like how Kori looked but not the girl,I mean she looked okay but it seems like her head is alittle too wide or something.Although,I liked the story and the dialogue.I would suggest to work alittle more on your girl character, make her look more apealing.Apart from that,Good job!

03.16.2009 12:00 AM

Your cover art need to be more appealing and not look like some bad photoshop image. And your characters could atleast portrayed a different pose...It seems repetive and boring. But your comic art and panelling is nicely done I would definetly buy this and read!

While the style of this one may not be my thing, I honestly think this one looks the most like normal manga. It has more line work than any of the other pilots, and firework is more important than tone. Especially considering how little tone is used in this Manga compared to the other pilots.

It was ok

01.21.2009 12:00 AM

It's called having your own style. I liked it. It's the sort of style that sets it apart from all the other typical ways of drawing people in manga, which in my opinion, gets monotonous at times. Also, I like the panel work. It's not too cluttered like some manga gets, so it's easy to read and follow. Very good.

I don't think the art of this comic is good at all I am a begginner and i can draw closer to manga than that! The mouths are too big! Don't you know eyes show manga expression

I've read your webcomic Resonance and I like it quite a bit. The style on this one is so different that I didn't even know it was the same person till it said so at the end of what is available here. It's intriguing to me so far and I did enjoy it. I do want to know what happened next as well. If I saw it in a bookstore I'd definately pick it up to read it (I'm the nasty type of fan who never buys the manga but just reads it in the store! >.>... yeah.) The artwork isn't on the same level as Resonance in my opinion but I'm betting that this style is an easier one to do and thus you'd be able to focus more on the story telling and able to create the comic faster then with resonance. Keep up the good work, hope I see some updates on Resonance eventually (I keep a email with all my favorite webcomics and check them ever month or so.) -Fan

I sure do want this one to get published, it's my favorite :)

08.19.2008 12:00 AM

It was interesting, but I am not necessarily a fan of the lupin/one piece style artwork-- this definitely seems shounen, so i might read it, but most likely I would only read the 1st volume. Srry...

08.18.2008 12:00 AM

The dialog was extremley weak, I hated it and could never read a series with it being this poor. Some of the character's remind me of lupin the 3rd characters, which is not a good thing. The start was really lame, but it picked up a little. I don't find this to funny, a attempt to be funny maybe twice.. The only thing that caught me was the end, but like I said the dialog was just so poorly written, that I would probably just wanna see where it goes with that one guy and then stop reading...and thats if I didn't have to pay for it..

08.17.2008 12:00 AM

if i saw it at a shop i wouldnt buy it. Needs heaps more work

08.17.2008 12:00 AM

I like it can't wait to see where this story goes.

08.13.2008 12:00 AM

Nice art and I like the mix of humor and drama. I'd like to read more of this.

08.13.2008 12:00 AM

I loved the story. It was pretty funny a little bit. Although, the only thing i did not like was how you drew your characters. The women looks creepy with the big mouth and no nose. LOL!

08.12.2008 12:00 AM

The artwork is good (reminiscent of Eichiro Oda!) and seems to fit the story, though the girl looks a little... monkey-like? The dagger's phantom spirit is an interesting facet. On the down side though, the pacing seems to be the result of a "quick fix" to shorten the story's length; the reader often has to put pieces together of what happened. Also the conversations move far too quickly.

08.12.2008 12:00 AM

pretty good. The story is intriguing... and the artwork (to my relief) is clear and polished. Backgrounds are drawn with a good amount of detail, and it flows smoothly from one panel to another. I'm thoroughly pleased. ^_^

08.11.2008 12:00 AM

it was pretty good i liked it.

08.10.2008 12:00 AM

The art is alright for the most part. Some nice pen techniques here and there, although I'm not a fan of the character deigns. The main boy character reminds me of Charlie Brown with hair in b/w with the zigzag and I'm not a big fan of the girl's face, It simply is not attractive. That being said, it's stylistically ok. The revolutionary guy was this amalgamation of Edward and Scar from FMA, Tetsuo from Akira and, oddly enough, Yugi-Oh yet mixed in a way that made the entire concept feel extremely derivative. I'm going to level with you, the plot is terrible. This is just WAY too cliche! Youth seeking revenge for a dead family member. Lets add that for some reason this ten year old is a badass AND under some sort of controlling curse). 'sexy' strong-willed, slightly dimwitted rough and tumble protagonist female costar, that conveniently drives the main character's plot a long. This is in desperate need of some fresh ideas. I would be a bit more interested in this if I hadn't seen all of the 'source material' before. Overall The art isn't terrible, but the designs lack in creativity and the storyline pains me so I give this a solid 2. Good effort but you just didn't sell me on continuing.

08.07.2008 12:00 AM

Awesome pilot, I really enjoy the art style, it's not cookie-cutter and I haven't seen anything like it!

08.03.2008 12:00 AM

funny how? .....sure its a little cartoony, but so is one piece! and one piece....no matter what 4kids has potrayed....isn't a kids show! and you gotta appreciate that the mangaka didn't make the computer do all the work...

08.02.2008 12:00 AM

The style looks funny.

08.01.2008 12:00 AM

this is the only one I really like...awesome pen work and a spunky story...

07.31.2008 12:00 AM

Despite what other people might think, I like the drawing style. It's a little more cartoon-ish than manga-ish, so I think it'd add a nice change. I also think the plot was a little weak, and it could have moved along a little differently. It'd be an okay manga, and I might buy it if it comes out, but I think you really have potential if you can get a good strong plot.

07.25.2008 12:00 AM

Nice pilot, I thought that the art is very special and taunting. You are extremely talented at drawing background. I find the villains' silly expressions quite funny. I especially like the face who orders Kori. The story could've been better. The pacing is too fast. Lara and Kori have just met and I think that they're trusting each other a wee bit too much. I didn't understand why would Lara talk to the revolutionists, but maybe that'll be explained later. Also, I think the villains were sort of typical. (But I love the hippies.) Aside from that, I love your characters for the fellow reasons: A: Lara has a brain and strength. (Something that female characters lack greatly in typical comics...) B: Kory is not traumatised by his brother's death for the rest of his life (and is not some sort of heroic maniac a la Final Fantasy (no offence, I love FFs). ) Lastly, I'm not accusing anyone, it bothers me how people keep compare this comic to other things such as Inuyasha, Naruto, etc. Just because one extremely popular manga contains a certain concept does not means that all other story who has that similarity are copycats. You guys read too much manga.

07.25.2008 12:00 AM

I thought it was all right. The plot just didn't seem as fresh as it could have been, I think. I don't know why every one hates your style so much though... Honestly, people need to give you a break. I think the story is intresting, and you have a very nice style. I dunno, maybe I've spoiled myself reading Resonance, but I would still pick the book up to read it. I'm too poor to buy anything, though, lol.

07.11.2008 12:00 AM

love the style yet hated the cover, is just so bah, I'm not digging it, love the manga tho, wonderful style, so clean and easy to follow

07.10.2008 12:00 AM

I didn't really like it. The art wasn't bad it just wasn't appealing to me. The story was ok I guess. I think it needs work personally. Meh...it was ok.

07.04.2008 12:00 AM

Oooh... the art AND the story are very unusual... I like it. However.. THE COVER SUCKS. Sorry, but it does. The characters on the front look good, but all that blue.. T_T However, I LIKE IT. All you down there, you are being too harsh on a good story. It is very unique and cool.

06.27.2008 12:00 AM

The art... burns... no offence. The proportions are pretty bad and it tend to not be very clear, it gets confusing. Yeah sure the artist did put in effort for the background, but what's the point when it doesn't even look good going along with a cheesy storyline? The pacing is too fast and the boy wit his family tradition thing is a bit lame and senseless. In this graphic novel I found loads of cliches... The story is also a bit boring and perhaps the girl is the only interesting character in the whole story. I would not buy this.

06.24.2008 12:00 AM

An overall abnormity with a strange sense of humor. The thought of avenging a brother's death because you must seems forced, as if there wouldn't be any plot at all if the boy didn't have to do it. The factor of choice is something I'd like to see more often because Fate and all that is becoming some kind of a scapegoat. I know, it's not really Fate, it's his "duty" but that seems like a silly basis for violence, vengeance, and ventures. The artwork was different but not all that enjoyable. I'm sorry, but I don't seem much potential. If only we could see more....

06.23.2008 12:00 AM

Okay, the cover sucks. Just plan and simple, and if you know anything about Marketing ...that shold be the best looking thing. As for the art style, I really liked it. It is original, but the plot ...well ...I gave up when the boy was saved by the girl in the desert. Yep, things like ...placement might be nice, and maybe, some kind of explanation at the beginning about what is going on will be even nicer. It kinds of just start, so you feel like you are in the middle of something, instead of the beginning. Maybe that is the way it's suppose to be, but without, some explanation of how the world works ...it's a quick way to lose your audience.

06.22.2008 12:00 AM

I really didn't much care for this one at all, it was kinda dull and overall random.

06.22.2008 12:00 AM

I liked the story a lot! The characters are nicely done, and the art was surprisingly good! I'd buy it if I saw it on the shelf! Although, the story seems to be moving a tad fast for my taste...

06.18.2008 12:00 AM

Lara's looks remind me a bit of Bizenghast. I don't think I'd buy it, I might borrow it from a friend though. The thing at the end seemed a bit predictable.

06.17.2008 12:00 AM

"This manga was awesome. The art is actually good quality (which can't be said for many American manga) and the formatting was excellent. I agree that the cover isn't great, but the quality of what's inside clearly surpasses most of what I've seen in these pilots so far. This is a comic you need to publish." Couldn't have said it better myself.

06.17.2008 12:00 AM

I like the old-school hatched style of shading, but the facial expressions are either way too exaggerated or eerily blank. The story felt like it was on fast forward, and I thought the plot was cliche, if slightly intriguing still. But, it was pretty funny and I enjoyed it overall. The kind of manga I'd pick up at the library, not the bookstore.

06.16.2008 12:00 AM

I'm sorry, I have to agree with the person below. I didn't mind the plot, but the atr was a bit............... weird...... I wouldn't buy it in a store, but I might look at it

06.15.2008 12:00 AM

The art is so... special. Just to look at it, I don't think I would pay for it... sorry! XD

06.15.2008 12:00 AM

I will say I really got into the story but the art really didn't keep me into the story. It was pretty weak. maybe a new artist and it would be set.

06.15.2008 12:00 AM

I agree with Marikakitzy, the mouths are a bit to big, the drawings are sometimes kind of....... ruff and the storyline is fast and confusing so I probably wouldn't buy it but i would look through it......>_

06.15.2008 12:00 AM

Its a ok idea. the art work is good and all but the story. i just don't see it as interesting to me. i wouldn't buy it in the store after reading the first book its not something that grabbed me.

06.14.2008 12:00 AM

The art was okay, a bit unrefined in some places. My main problem was with the plot, which seemed very rushed to me. I don't mind jumping into the action, but the plot just seemed so disjointed while it hopped around. It seems like the artist could have drawn out more panels, but instead resorted to either skipping over certain parts or using sound effects. And the plot didn't feel too original to me: kid bent on revenge= Sasuke from Naruto, Demon like entity inside kid = Jio from O-Parts, and Villain with mechanical arm = Edward from Fullmetal. Overall this story has potential, but it definitely needs polishing.

06.14.2008 12:00 AM

Haven't read the story at all. Just looking at this opening picture. It looks like a bad comic book that's half a century too old, and the... THING... in the background looks like one of the dried-up demons from Inuyasha. Y'know, the one that attacked Kagome's granpa in the future. Looks exactly like it. Put simply? Come back when your art matches a general standard. If you're going to make it a murder-mystery, make it look like something that kinda buff would read. This looks like it'd be nothing but a lame picture book. -_-

06.14.2008 12:00 AM

Same as the guy beneath me. I know I probably should read it but if it was in a shop people aren't going to force themselves to buy something they don't like the look of just in case it turns out to be okay' so I think I should treat it that way.....Anyways, didn't like the art and sounds like an unoriginal and boring storyline. If I saw this in the store I wouldn't give it a second look. But having said that, it might be a decent manga. And then I'd be missing out because I was to lazy to read it...

06.14.2008 12:00 AM

Hmmmm. I like the art, and i hate the art. The backrounds are good, but the people kinda throw me off. The facial expressions are way too big. But i liked parts of it sometime. The plot is interesting, but not really well-defined. I definitely wouldn't buy it unless it was really really cheap. ^^'

06.14.2008 12:00 AM

This is definatly not your cookie cutter manga, and I think the world needs more of that. Just because manga uses sceentone doesn't mean you have to, because sometimes it clashes with your lovely inking style. I love the line quality. When your girl smiles it's a bit too low though, I think that's what people are trying to say when they say they don't like the expressions. I like it overall, however I'd like to see your artwork in a story that isn't cliche/as played out as "revenge".

06.14.2008 12:00 AM

This manga was awesome. The art is actually good quality (which can't be said for many American manga) and the formatting was excellent. I agree that the cover isn't great, but the quality of what's inside clearly surpasses most of what I've seen in these pilots so far. This is a comic you need to publish.

I thought the same thing as Kyuubiten Shi! If I saw this manga in a store I certainly wouldn't pick it up. I felt like the story was sped up and halfway through I just thought, "I don't get it." It almost seemed like a few things were jumped to conclusions (again with the sped up feeling). The art was okay, but I didn't always like how the characters looked (like facial expressions). This Pilot is alittle interesting, but I can't really see anything creative or unthought of to look forward to (someone needs revenge, just so HAPPENS to see a sign or clue of the killer like that, not that original - so now I bet that this kid will go on a quest to find that man- oh, the drama). I might skim the story if I have time but I don't think that it will be on the top of my "To Read" list.

Not Bad

Artwork is more in the alternative vein, but that's okay. Story, on the other hand, seems a bit more contrived.
