I agree can't wait to read the rest. I love that it's so funny and that little twist was the icing on the cake.

SHOJO!!!!!! I love shojo! The Aries has the perfect personality for his position in the story! I wanna buy this. When's the next chapter!

09.29.2009 12:00 AM

This is OH-SO-TYPICAL shojo manga--but I LOVE it! This is the type of guilty-pleasure manga that I eat up. Sure, it might not have the best art and grammar. Sure, it's full of cliches and plot holes (Where'd that talking cat come from? Why didn't Taara try to find the baby's parents? HOW could Taara leave the baby unsupervised in the bathtub?!), but, despite everything, this brought a smile to my face. I love shojo! I'd totally buy this! Oh, and is anyone else confused by the "Editor's Intro"? I don't think it's the same story...

09.15.2009 12:00 AM

wow that was good, but i just realized something about the comic's theme. It is almost just like Meri Puri.

09.10.2009 12:00 AM

This looks just like Meru Puri

07.26.2009 12:00 AM

great art, it does look like a professional manga. About the story,i enjoyed reading it,it's funny, though i don't think it's very original. Anyway, it's just chapter one, if this story gives us unexpected twists, it'll get very interesting.

07.10.2009 12:00 AM

This is a really awesome comic I wish owned it because I would read it every day of my life

07.07.2009 12:00 AM

This idea has been used before. Unless there's a twist it'll be nearly the same. But the grammar made me wince, it was horrific. I do like the artwork though.

06.26.2009 12:00 AM

The grammer was, well, bad,and the pacing was choppy, leaving the story with a "cut and paste" feel which got confusing. The scenes where Aries and his 'pet' were talking around her before she had her freak out over the 'pet' talking left me wondering way too early why she wasn't freaked out then, so I was left to assume that they were either talking quietly amongst themselves just out of her hearing range or that you had not yet caught the irregularity. I like the story, the heroine seems quite cute and likable and aries is interesting, I would like very much to read more but after some clean up. It would be beneficial to have someone do a read through, add notes, and perhaps edit for you so that the story flows better. I imagine that you did all of this on your own and I am impressed with your art and the tone work you did. The dialogue lost me at times and like I said, having someone else read it would help a lot because they will be seeing it with fresh eyes and can catch things you would not notice. I do it and it is a tremendous help. I hope this has been beneficial to you.

06.21.2009 12:00 AM

very cute

06.17.2009 12:00 AM

That was really really good i want to read more of them

06.02.2009 12:00 AM

This was absolutly wonderful. I love the idea. it's so adorable! And Aries is very handsome =3 And the heroin Taara has an air of mothering around her. The artwork is amazing, as well. And there is a rich balance of tones along with blacks and whites. The only thing I would say is just to go back and touch up spelling. But other than that I would definatly buy this book off the shelf. Keep up the amazing work =3

04.27.2009 12:00 AM

wow that was really good I want to read more!

04.23.2009 12:00 AM

sweet watashi wish the full manga was on here though.

04.22.2009 12:00 AM

the talking was a bit bit weird like the spelling but i'm not from america so.... the art was kay i've seen better but still good i liked the cartoons funny but yea.

04.17.2009 12:00 AM

What a cute story! I would love to read more!

04.17.2009 12:00 AM

This is cute. I can see this making it as an anime as well.

04.16.2009 12:00 AM

03.30.2009 12:00 AM

omg! tht was awesome! really funny! ^_^ really hope u continue making it!

03.30.2009 12:00 AM

So funny I Love it

03.14.2009 12:00 AM

adorable, funny! cute! I would have spent more time on the introduction of the universe, because it spun too fast. artwork is beautiful, wonderful toning too

03.04.2009 12:00 AM

I think the art is great, but this is pretty much a copy of Meru Puri. The writing has it's own flavor though... Maybe the story after this pilot is completely different than Meru Puri ( I can't say since I haven't seen it ) If it is different, then you should change this beginning part... If you're going to go with the trying to grow up thing and reverting back when acting childish that could go somewhere, but get rid of the whole prince being sent away from danger or something... Also I think the character designs would need to be altered to avoid comparison to Meru Puri. I hope you take this as constructive criticism, Goodluck! :)

03.02.2009 12:00 AM

There were spellings mistakes and words added that shouldn't have been, words missing...but it wasn't bad! Although I think the ship crashed in too fast, and we don't know anything about her parents, I really like this manga and would buy it if the mistakes were changed and other things. Well done!

02.16.2009 12:00 AM

I liked it, though it did remind me of Meru Puri by Masturi Hino alittle bit. But it was good. :)

01.31.2009 12:00 AM

The story went very fast for my tastes, and I found a typo or two. I like the art, but the transitions need to be worked on... I felt like I was being jerked around. Also, it's too much like Meru Puri; at least the first part is. :|

01.16.2009 12:00 AM

The artwork's great-excellent toning skills. But the story's almost identical to Hino's MeruPeri manga. I mean, even the heroines look similar! I'd like to see more of the comic to see how it separates itself from Hino's work, however, if I saw it in a store I wouldn't buy it since I already have MeruPeri.

01.15.2009 12:00 AM

art kinda reminded me of vampire knight at the beginning... which was totally awesome. and the main chick is kinda like the personality of tohru in a way. the chibis are TOTALLY ADORABLE!!! the star bounces off her head!!! XD [page 10 frame 5]

01.05.2009 12:00 AM

Awsome! This is a great story and if any Manga Pilot should be publised it should be this one! I luv Shojo Manga and this is shojo manga and there needs to be alot more shojo out there! So keep up the good ones (shojo) and trash the bad ones(shonen) because violent manga is bad! Way to go Veritas Kiss !

01.03.2009 12:00 AM

12.13.2008 12:00 AM

what a cute manga :) one of the new ones i will read. wonder what will happen after he grows up. would he have the same aditude?

12.13.2008 12:00 AM

I love that kind of manga. Fine work.

12.12.2008 12:00 AM

I am sorry, but am I the only one who finds that the story is a replica of Hino Matsuri's Meru Puri?... Personnaly, I find it disturbing when a creator replicates another's work - being inspires by others is one thing, but there is a fine line between that and a copycat. Sorry.

12.03.2008 12:00 AM

really good i would definetly buy it. very good art!!

11.22.2008 12:00 AM

This is definitely a manga that I'd pick up and buy in a store! Good Job!

11.07.2008 12:00 AM

not bad i really like the art but the story is a little jumpy and sometimes doesnt make sense. but overall very well done.

10.23.2008 12:00 AM

Oh I like this one it be a top buy for me. x3 and that drawing of the prince on the 3 page as a teen whoo he can land in my kitchen/garden anyday :)

10.23.2008 12:00 AM

really love the artwork, and a very funny storyline. it has alot of potentinal, though it reminds me of other manga titles, it still has quite a large sense of originality.

10.22.2008 12:00 AM

The artwork was good, very nice toning and line art and such, but the plot was a bit weak and there could have been a better use of grammar. All in all, I think with some refinement this comic could have a lot of potential.

10.19.2008 12:00 AM

This is a wonderful, beautifully drawn, and very well written series. I would love to see more of it! If this was a comic book it would be at the top of my list for puchasing!

10.17.2008 12:00 AM

it's so cute and I love the art, but the plot seems too much like Meru Puri. >3< but I love it anyway

10.12.2008 12:00 AM

love it when is the next one going to be up? soon???

10.10.2008 12:00 AM

Great story! Would buy this :)

Great Story and Graphics

Easy to read story that has attention to detail, yet is simplistically elegant with undertones of comedic relief that are a breath of fresh air. Nice change of pace reads like a professional publication. I am impressed with the quality. Surely this author/artist has been published?!

CHARACTER INFORMATION

Taara
A fifteen-year old girl lives on a rural planet that harbors her precious memories from her parents. She lives each day with a smile on her face, and talking to herself often! She loves cooking in her kitchen with a picture of her dear parents and loves to tend her precious garden! When she meets Aries as a child, she sees an opportunity to love someone, taking on the role as a mother-like figure. But when she finds he is under a spell and that he is really a seventeen year old prince, she suddenly changes her view and the way she acts around him!

Aries
Aries is a handsome seventeen years old prince from the planet Ankaa of the powerful empire Zakir. As for certain princely features he is also a rebellious and stubborn teenager! Also, he is resentful and bitter that his brother has gone and now he has to take over the role of king someday. He wants to be free from obligations at the palace that subdue his freedom. When he is sent away he becomes even more resentful that his parents sent him away in the first place! But when he crash lands into Taara’s world, he discovers that his age has been reversed and that he has to learn to grow up all over again!

Aki

He is actually a manipulator and a sarcastic being that loves teasing Aries when situations come up between Aries and Taara.

CREATOR PROFILES

KARI ELLISON
www.tokyopop.com/hikarihime007 or www.myspace.com/hikari_visualartist

Creator Kari Ellison was born in Anaheim, California. In Orange County, where she grew up, she was encouraged by other to further her ambitions as an artist and a writer. Her real life did not begin till she went to college in 2000 to pursue this desire and realized after three major changes to finally choose Japanese and Illustration at California State University of Fullerton.

In 2003, she also bit into her adventurous wild side to travel across the world to study in Venice, Italy for history, photography, printmaking, painting and of course traveling to as many countries she could before running out of funds! For now, she goes to Japan at least once every year to visit friends and to soak in the Japanese culture and lifestyle.

She has also worked the slave labor of retail starting from college and technically till the present…she is an artist at Trader Joes in Irvine and sucks all the benefits she can till she can not be called a “starving artist” by solely freelancing in her art commission working in pet portraits and murals. She also used to work as a portrait/caricature artist at Disneyland.

Manga has been a passion and obsession since the time her friend introduced her some popular manga series some five years ago! It was love at first sight when she knew that she could use her talents to create stories and the art as well!

TABBY KINK
Here is an interview with artist Tabby Kink on the Web site of Glass House Graphics, her awesome agents. http://www.glasshousegraphics.com/creators/pencilers/TAbby%20Kink/index.htm

Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
I was born and I grew up in Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro state inland.

Have you already taken a drawing course/art training?
I have never taken any drawing course. I only started studying art when I got in the university. Now I'm about to finish my Plastic Arts course in Escola de Belas Artes (UFRJ).

How long have you been working professionally in comics?
I don't know if I can consider myself a professional since I only have two published comic books. But I can tell I've been around for some time, preparing myself to try to reach new horizons in this market.

What things -- both in art and otherwise -- have you worked on besides comics? Are comics a full-time gig for you or part-time?
I've never done any artistic work but the several projects of the university. I hope I can make a living from comic books, working full-time. That's my goal: to be able to work a lot in this area. I really enjoy making comics!

Talk about how you broke into the business -- Was it easy or hard? Did you get through ups and downs? Any interesting anecdotes? When you held your first published work in your hands, how did you feel?
I still haven't got the pleasure of feeling like I'm already established in the market, just to tell you so. I've got some published works in Brazil, on "Tsunami" and "Talentos do Mangá" magazines. When I could see my work printed and feel the reader's receptivity, I realized that this is my life. It was such a great experience! The magazines were cancelled though. Unfortunately this is a common thing in my country, but I still get nice response from a few readers that did not forget my characters! I believe that any work has its highs and lows. It's the same in art. But I really want to believe the effort and determination can overcome any obstacle.

Have you already worked as an assistant of any other artists? If so, please talk a bit about these experiences.
I have never worked as an assistant.

How did your parents take the idea of working with comics?
My parents worry about me a lot! In Brazil, it's a common thing to tell artists die from starving because of the lack of opportunities to work. But they do believe me and support me to find my own way, whatever it is. I think that deep inside they know I'm very determined and I don't usually give up easily.

How would you describe your environment? Is it part of your home, or do you go "to the studio"?
I work at home on my drawing table, surrounded by references and beside a computer. Another thing that's part of my work environment is a music player (because I just can't draw in silence) and a watch (to come back to reality).

What work are you proudest of? What's your most embarrassing?
I'm really proud of everything that I've done, whether it's on the magazines or on my fanzines. Since we're constantly learning and improving, every drawing has its own importance. But I think my biggest pride is the fanzine. Even it sounds unbelievable, I still get nice words from readers.

Talk about your family: Parents, siblings, home situation. Are you married? Do you have kids? What are their names? Do you have anecdotes about married life? How does it relate to your busy schedule? If you have kids, do they understand your job? What do they say about it? Do they read comics?
I have a sister and a brother, both older than me. I'm currently living in Rio de Janeiro with my brother. We are very close to each other and we always support each other as well. We are like The Three Musketeers, no doubt! Curiously, we all work with art: my brother is a graphic designer and my sister is a penciller too. I think our family is very united and we really believe each other.

What projects do you hope to work on in the future?
I hope to work A LOT! I'd like to work with all the possible themes (martial arts, romances, adventure, boys love, fantasy, comedies, etc) and who knows, make some mangas about my favorite theme: school dramas!

Where do you see yourself in five/ten years?
In front of a drawing table! That's what I hope for!

How big is the interest in comics in the place you live? Do your friends and neighbors know you make a living from comics? How do they react?
In my city, like it's common in Brazil, the interest for art seems to be a small circle. But I believe things have been changing slowly and who knows some day comic books get its deserved importance over here. My friends, in the majority, like mangas and comic books. Everyone is supporting me!

Tell us one thing we'll always find in your refrigerator?
Milk

What's your favorite food?
Everything my mom cooks and Chinese food.

What are your favorite interests? (i.e.: movies, music, TV, sports, any other hobbies, etc)
When I'm not drawing, I'm watching movies. I love going to the movies! I like to watch comedies and movies about court. I really enjoyed L.A. Confidential, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Shine. The only TV series I've been watching is Law & Order SVU. Besides, of course, Japanese dramas and animes!
I listen to music all the day long, especially when I'm drawing. My favorite styles are J-Pop and R&B. Here you're gonna always listen to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Utada Hikaru, L'arc~en~Ciel and a lot, a lot of Arashi!
My sport is swimming! It's great exercise and it's the most useful.

Have you ever thought about writing your own stories?
Yes, I've always thought about it! I've got many ideas that I'd like to see published! Who knows some day?

Have you ever been in a gang?
No, but I think I've always wanted to be part of a group. Mainly a penciller gang

What an average day in your life is like? Walk us through a typical day.
Let's see: By the morning I go to the university; after lunch time I'm back and it's time to draw; I do the domestic stuff in the evening (because someone has to do that  >_<); in the night I do some stuff in the computer (reticulation and painting) and then I sleep.

Do you have any great unsold projects in your files that nobody's got to see published?
Yes, sure. But differently from other projects I have, this one is my eye candy. If someday it's published, I'll be able to say: "Everything, everything really worth it!"

What's your complete list of published credits?
Independent works: An issue of a fanzine called Beeswax and three issues of Mr. Jinx fanzine. Professional works: An issue of Tsunami Magazine, from Talismã publisher and an issue of Talentos do Mangá magazine, from Escala publisher.

If you weren't a comic-book artist today, what would you be?
I'd like to be an actress, but since I don't have any talent and I'm very shy, I think I'd be a History teacher.

Have you taught anyone comic book art or had any assistants? If so, talk about that.
No, I've always worked on my own.

The thing you'd most like to be remembered for in your life is...
I'd like my characters were always remembered. People are easy to forget about, but characters that made you smile, cry, in any time of your life, these ones will always be remembered. I believe that making something that turns positively unforgettable in someone's life, turns yourself unforgettable too.

Any closing words for your fans?
My fans ? Well, wherever you are, stay with me! I'm gonna do my best to deserve your caring and attention.
