Can you hear it?
It’s beating louder.
Can you hear it?
It’s beating so fast.
Can you hear it?
The beating crescendo.
Can you hear it?
The beat of my heart.
Beat of my heart.
It beats so wildly.
Beat of my heart.
It beats so harshly.
Beat of my heart.
It beats so hungrily.
Beat of my heart.
It beats for you.
Can you hear it?
It beats to get free.
Can you hear it?
It’s beating so strange.
Can you heart it?
This beating sensation?
Can you hear it?
The beat of my heart.
Beat of my heart.
It beats so desperately.
Beat of my heart.
It beats to get free.
Beat of my heart.
It’s beating against me.
Beat of my heart.
It’s beating for you.
Beat of my heart.
It’s beating for you.
Beat of my heart.
It’s calling for you.
Beat of my heart.
What am I gonna do.
Cause the beat of my heart,
It only wants you.
Beat of my heart.
It beats for one purpose.
Beat of my heart.
That purpose is you.
Beat of my heart.
I know I’m helpless.
Cause the beat of my heart
Will only have you.
Olivia listened in silence as her little sister, Kara, sang . Kara sang and Olivia wrote. That was how it worked. That way, Olivia could still touch people’s hearts with her music without the hassle, and Kara could sing to her heart’s desire being adored by her millions of fans.
As the last notes of the song reverberated throughout the stadium, Olivia turned and smiled up at Kyle. Kyle…her husband of one year…today. He had given up so much for her. He was now working as a volunteer fireman, keeping his hours straight so that he’d have plenty of time with his new wife. This song had been her gift to him, the man who had given her everything she could ever want and more. He grinned at her and wrapped her in his arms.
“I love you, Mrs. Blackstone.”
“I love you too, Mr. Blackstone.” She laughed at the face he made when she called him that. It was so much fun to tease her husband.
“You know it makes me feel old when you call me that.” He whined as he pulled back and pouted at her. She giggled and pulled him closer to give him a soft, lingering kiss.
“I know. I just love the face you make when I say it. It reminds me of the face you make when you lose at Go Fish.”
“I told you. I let you win.”
“Sure. Whatever you say, baby.” She smiled up at him. It was too much. He leaned towards her and kissed her nose.
“Fighting with you is impossible. I never win.”
“Just like you never win at Go Fish?” She teased. He sighed and pressed his forehead against hers.
“Yes. Just like that.”
“Ah, so you admit it.”
“Shh…” He whispered.
“What? What is it?”
“Can you hear it?”
“Hear what?” She asked curiously.
“…the beat of our hearts.”
