Hi! It's been a while since I last posted, and for some reason, my last post didn't go through....hmm...anyhoo, I'm turning this into a partial book blog so that I can fill you in on all the great new books I'm reading. (After this, I'm off the read the new Luxe novel!!)
The Order of OddFish
By James Kennedy
It's a mixture of Monty Python and Roald Dahl, as quoted from the inside cover. And yes, it is VERY funny. The characters are awesome, all of them at least a tiny bit eccentric and quirky. (You've got Hoagland Shanks, who's obsessed with pie, and Ken Kiang who is bored quickly, and has reverted to evil.) Jo is a 13-year-old girl who has always lived with her aunt, a washed-out movie star. She leads a normal life in the Ruby Palace until the night of a Christmas party, where a strange colonel, who listens to only his digestive system, shows up to protect her from something "dangerous". He is then shot by a boy dressed as a hedgehog. From there, Jo and some newfound friends are chased by the ruthless Ken Kiang, who, before killing them reads off a list of everything they'll miss. (Did I mention he once drank the blood of a strangled kitten? So evil....) They go from a dangerous position to the intestines of a fish, who coughs them up into the mysterious Eldridge city, where things only continue to worsen....
Ok....if I want to watch "my movie" I need to move. Hope it was a good review!!
